- NEW YORK, February 2025 – What happens when a nonverbal autistic child who finally learns to speak but later develops a severe stutter finds his voice—not just in everyday life but on the airwaves? A powerful story of resilience and determination, as well as inclusivity and a “never give up” attitude!
- Matthew, who currently lives outside Chicago, once struggled to speak, defied the odds by earning a bachelor’s degree in communication with the dream of becoming a radio broadcaster. That dream is now a reality thanks to NEW HD MEDIA, a groundbreaking national streaming radio station that proudly trains and employs adults with disabilities and veterans.
- “Growing up, I never imagined I would one day have a career in radio. Learning to speak was the hardest thing for me to do, but now my voice connects with thousands of listeners every day,” said Matt “The Hammer” , his rock jock name, and how he is known to his NEW HD listening fans.

A Call for National Recognition & Support
While NEW HD MEDIA has already changed the lives of several individuals, it needs more national recognition and funding, which would allow the station to expand its mission and message. They need to reach more aspiring broadcasters from the underrepresented communities of adults with disabilities and veterans.
With additional resources, the organization aims to expand their mission by:
- Providing scholarships and paid training programs for people with disabilities and veterans.
- Expand its state-of-the-art studio facilities to accommodate more talent coming on board.
- Launch new community-driven programming that helps people become more engaged and aware.
